It is so very exciting that you have found an opportunity to stay home with your children while still contributing an income to the family, but an opportunity is one thing, and what you do with the opportunity is another. Do you have what it takes to succeed as a franchise owner?
Purchasing a franchise with WP Creations gives you the opportunity to operate your own business while having the support of an established system behind you.
Before you get too interested in this work-at-home franchise opportunity, it is important to remember that franchisees are small business owners and it takes a special combination of skills and traits in order to operate your own business.
Here is the top 10 list of attributes Canada’s most successful franchisees possess, according to the Canadian Franchise Association.
We agree 100% that owning a business is hard work. A franchisee needs to be able to put in the necessary time and effort to make their business a success. Working from home can be a challenge if you are not a planner because you must find the ability to pre organize your day the night before or the morning of to ensure your tasks (personal and professional) get completed. In the early stages of any business, even if purchasing a resale franchise from us, you will be spending long hours learning the system and the art.
Franchising is about being focused and being able to follow the system. It is often a full time commitment in itself, so if you are trying to juggle being a mom of many young kiddos, while attending many competitive sports or dance events with a ton of extracurricular commitment while trying to work part or full time and own our franchise, it simply will not work. It is important to break down where you choose to focus your time. A franchise system is only as good as the hard work and focus you are able to put into it.
3. Business Oriented
We do not require you to have previous business experience but we are looking for people with strong business acumen. It would be beneficial to have an education and or a form of acquired supervisory or leadership skills as you must be able to independently organize and manage your day to day tasks.
4. Able to lead
Although you will be following our franchise system, which has a lot of supports in place, it is important to remember that as a franchise owner you are still in charge of your own operation and are responsible for your results. You must find ways to help motivate and lead yourself by using our system and our team of helpful franchises owners.
5. Enjoy working with people
WP Creations is about connecting with families often during very emotional times. They may have just had a baby, perhaps struggled with fertility to get to this point, adopted or perhaps having experienced a loss. It is important to be able to empathize with a variety of emotions, really listen to what it is the family needs and have an open mind to their questions and opinions. You need to be able to work with people to help resolve any problems they may have. You will also need to be able to work alongside your franchise head office team as we will be here to provide continuous support often based on our experiences of having had faced those similar challenges.
6. Able and eager to communicate
We are a very accessible business in that there are several ways a potential customer can communicate with us. Therefore, it is important that you are able to effectively and quickly respond to customer inquiries and requests. We have made adjustments over the years to help improve upon the efficiency of communicating with customers regarding booking appointments but a client will reach out to you by various means and expect a prompt reply, within reason. Therefore, if you are not connected through your phone or computer multiple times of day, you will not be able to meet the expectations of our consumers.
7. Ready to follow a system
With our WP Creations franchise, you are never alone. Our support, coaches, fellow franchisees and head office team are here to help you along the way. Ultimately, you must be willing to follow a system as it is given. You are responsible for the day-to-day operation of your franchise but the system of operations as set out by the franchisor must be adhered to.
Franchises are replicable businesses that must remain consistent from one location to the next so it it’s important that each of our territories remain with that ‘cookie cutter’ feel (much like big box chains like McDonald’s, Tim Horton’s Etc.). Currently, our studio set ups vary from location to location as we are a home based business, however customers should expect the same level and quality of service at any given location. We do require a safe, clean, uncluttered room with neutral coloured walls. From here, all of our products and programs must follow our guidelines.
To meet changing consumer needs, franchises often need to be on top of these changes and from time to time will undergo rebranding, new marketing, product additions or discontinuations along with the addition and changes of technology. This means that the franchisor will educate you about the pending changes and the franchisees must be prepared to incorporate these changes and to make time for any learning or required training.
9. Have Patience
When you have invested time and money into your business, it can be hard to remember that successful businesses are not built overnight. Purchasing a franchise means you start off much further ahead than if you didn’t have a system to follow but it will still take time to grow your franchise business into the success you are looking for. If you can be patient and stick with it through the development prior, you will be through the hardest part and will reap the benefits of the hard work you put into it.
If you are passionate about a work-at-home franchise for the flexible work hours and system it provides and are passionate about the work that we create for families, then it will not feel like work at all. While the other skills and traits referenced above are important in contributing to your entrepreneurial success, it is your passion and drive that will be the defining factor as to whether or not you are successful. A big question we like to ask is, “Do you view this opportunity as a business first and staying home with your kids is a bonus? Or do you see this is a way to stay home with your kids and the business is secondary? The business itself should always be your first answer. You must be passionate about the products we create and want to create a business that supports that.
Your passion will make you more ready and willing to rise to any challenges that come your way as you take your business into a great success.
If you are an independent learner that works well with a team and a system, is goal driven and motivated, this could be the right fit for you!
