Working from Home – Carol’s Journey
I still remember the day I first laid eyes on a shadowbox. For those of you who don’t know, a shadowbox is a beautiful frame that encapsulates 3D lifecasts of baby’s hands and feet.
I was at a friend’s house and noticed them on her wall. They looked so elegant and personal and held such meaning that I knew I wanted that for when I had my own children. I asked my friend where she had them done and she let me know it was through “Wee Piggies and Paws” – this was the name the company started as, now known as WP Creations.
In 2017 when I was pregnant with my first child, I reached out to the Brampton location to book an appointment. I was so adamant about getting this done that I made the appointment even before my baby was born! At 11 days new I went in with my daughter for the appointment and it was an unforgettable experience.
The whole process from beginning to end was enjoyable to the point where I knew I wasn’t finished with this company and with the lifecasting process.
I was so intrigued with all of it that I started to dabble in it on my own. Ordering lifecasting kits online from various places and trying (and never quite succeeding) to create more lifecasts at home. I realized quickly that it is not as easy as it looks! There is a reason why there is so much training and years of experience behind what the artists do.
Despite working full time and having a young child at home, I reached out to Head Office late last year to see if the Brampton location was available. It was!
Without hesitation I went through the onboarding process and jumped into training right away. Jamie provided me with EVERYTHING I could possibly need to start this business. I did my training virtually, which at first made me wonder if I was going to get everything I needed out of it, and would I get as much as in person training. Turns out I got everything and more.
The Coronavirus hit and everything shut down, but I continued practicing my techniques on my daughter and have been improving ever since.
I can’t say enough about the training and support I have received not only from Jamie but from my amazing coach Ashley.
Brampton is a big territory with amazing potential and a great reputation. I am determined to carry that on and create more brand awareness in this area. I know with the support of Jamie, my coach and the entire team, I will succeed.
I am expecting twins in November so with 3 kids under 4, a full time job and being the owner of WP Creations I am prepared for what comes next! The chaos, the love and the memories. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
The big question is now, which keepsake will I be making for my twins?
