Working from Home – Meagan’s Journey
I was first introduced to WP Creations when having my daughter Aspen’s casts done in Fort St John while on a hunting trip! She is now 18 months, so in a year and a half, the decision to join the WP Creations has come to fruition.
My name is Meagan and I have lived in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island my entire life. I am married with 2 children, Aspen being the younger as well as her older brother Kaleb, who is 10.
I have worked in various settings outside of the home such as the local hospital, at a retirement home in support services, the restoration industry and now within the school district doing administration. Once upon a time my dream was to be a lawyer, but as things tend to do when you have kids, the idea of what I thought I wanted had changed. I wanted to be able to be there for my children, to take them to school and pick them up, and to be able to attend their sporting events and activities. After speaking with a WP Creations artist while at my daughter’s casting appointment, the more I learned and the more I realized that WP Creations was something I wanted to do. It seemed like the perfect fit and had everything I was looking for. I felt at that time that it would be a perfect fit for myself and my family.
I started to look into purchasing into the franchise, however when I was just about to, COVID-19 happened! I decided to wait to see how the world would change and what I would need to do to adapt to it. I witnessed the company evolve and change with the times and was extremely impressed at how they managed to transform aspects of their company to meet the demands of the online world. So, in August of 2020 I made the decision to purchase a franchise territory and join the team.
One of the things I love most about being a WP Creations franchisee, is that it has broken up the monotony of the every day “mom life.” Being a mom can sometimes be so routine you find yourself on autopilot. I no longer wanted to feel that way and WP Creations has allowed me to have something just for me. I love how WP Creations has fit perfectly into my “family life”, creating something special for me to do in my own home, that is meaningful and close to my heart, that gives me both of all the “feel-good” feelings AND a sense of accomplishment when I am able to create something lasting and beautiful for a family. All of this happens while being able to raise my children myself but not have it be all consuming.
My hope is to be able to give back to the community, and to reach out to young mothers and families. I was fortunate to be able to get my daughter’s casts done, but when I had my son at a young age 10 years ago, I didn’t know WP Creations (then, Wee Piggies and Paws) even existed. I would love to be able to get the word out there in my community so that no family has to live with the regret of “Oh, I wish I had known!”
One of the major bonuses of owning a franchise, is now I know what product options are available and I am so excited to be able to include my son in the next keepsake I create with my family.
I am looking forward to what the future holds and can’t wait to grow alongside this business!
